Emergency Medical Services Division
Glenside Fire Protection District The Emergency Medical Services Division has provided the highest level of pre-hospital emergency medical care to our districts residents, visitors and employers for over thirty years. With close to sixty years of combined advanced life support experience, our team members have responded to thousands of medical emergencies, sudden injury and rescue situations. We provide the most up to date equipment, education and rescue techniques accepted by local, state and national EMS standards. As a member of the Good Samaritan Hospitals, Emergency Medical Services System and the Illinois Department of Health Region Eight, all of the districts Paramedics and Emergency Medical Technicians are licensed to provide basic and advanced life support procedures. All medical personnel receive mandatory continuing education every month, the Paramedics are required to test once every six months to maintain their license and must prove one hundred twenty hours of continued education and training every four years to renew that license. The EMS staff consists of two Paramedics assigned to the ambulance each day, one Paramedic assigned to the Quint (fire engine) and three Emergency Medical Technicians. The twenty Part-time members are also certified EMT-B and EMT-P. The Paramedics assigned to the daily shift ambulances are contracted to the fire district by Paramedic Services of Illinois and have served the district since the inception of our advanced life support services. During the month Quint paramedics are rotated to the ambulance to keep their knowledge and skills sharp. All of the districts active EMS personnel are also certified as firefighters and have training in hazardous materials, technical rescue, emergency driving and recent training in Homeland Security response. If you have any questions or comments, please contact me at (630) 668-5323 Monday thru Friday 8am to 4:30pm. We hope to see you again soon. Stephen Lipowski, EMT-P EMS Coordinator
